Topic "Default IE Mode?" a message from Arno Schuring

What is supposed to be the default IE mode (i.e. when &quotDefault&quot is selected as the IE Mode in Web options)? I had assumed that default would be the current version of Internet Explorer installed, but on my machine (Windows 8 with Internet Explorer 10), the embedded IE tabs are announcing themselves as IE7 (user agent: Mozilla/4.0 compatible; MSIE 7.0; Windows NT 6.2; WOW64; Trident/6.0).

If I select IE10 mode (or even IE11 mode) explicitly, I get user agent Mozilla/5.0 (compatible; MSIE 10.0; Windows NT 6.2; WOW64; Trident/6.0).

Is this expected behaviour?
