Topic "Missing Layout Objects" a message from Nealio

After rebooting my computer last night, the Navigation pane, and a number of other objects are no longer visible (see attached image). I've tried toggling the buttons, and using the keyboard shortcuts, but nothing happens. I had this happen once before, and it took an uninstall plus registry sweep to get it back. Is there a simpler way to fix this?
